Burberry & The Midlands Engine


Sir John Peace is one of Britain’s leading businessmen. He is Chairman of the board of Burberry, the luxury goods group; and also of The Midlands Engine, a collaboration of 11 Local Enterprise Partnerships and of Local Authorities which is supported by the Government in order to drive growth and productivity in the Midlands region of the UK.

Previously, Sir John was Chairman of Standard Chartered, the London-listed international bank which focuses on the dynamic markets of Asia, the Middle East and Africa. From 2006 to 2014 he was Chairman of Experian, a business he helped found in the early 1980s and he was Group Chief Executive of GUS plc from 2000 to 2006.

Sir John is Lord-Lieutenant of Nottinghamshire and was knighted in 2011 for services to business and the voluntary sector. He was educated at Sandhurst.
